Hound Dog

Abigail and Donny were having a dance party and Donny requested to hear Hound Dog by Elvis.  I was using a radio app on my phone that will sometimes play the song you request and then again it will play what it wants.  I did a search for Hound Dog and Fun, Fun, Fun started to play.  The kids were in full dance mode when all of the sudden Donny stopped and said, "Hey wait a minute.  This isn't Elvis, it's the Beach Boys."  How the hell did he know that?  Probably the same way he can identify the Four Freshmen when he hears one of their songs.  He's really 68 years old.

Spring Photos

Donny finally came home with his class photo today.  He is so proud of the photo that he displayed it in his window.  Oddly enough, he has spring photos taken tomorrow.  I asked him what he wanted to wear and he said a tuxedo.  Thank heavens we don't own one and he doesn't know that one can be rented.  I think we came up with a suitable outfit, if I can just get him to the bus before he changes his mind.  And then there is Abigail.  Her school photos are taken Friday.  I asked her if she wanted to wear a pretty dress and she said, "Yes, I think I will wear the Alice in Wonderland dress."  Not what I had in mind and apparently my face said what I was thinking because she quickly added, "You let Donny wear George Washington."  Stay tuned, I'm sure it will get better.

Triple D

On the way to school this morning, I asked Abigail if there was anything special she wanted for dinner.  "Corned beef," she replied.  I think I make her watch too much Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network.

Advice

We were leaving Donny's swim lesson today and Donny looked into the equipment room.  There were several people working out.  Donny said, "Hey Mama, you need that.  It could really help you."  "Thanks son."

Flower Girl

Abigail was invited to participate in a mock wedding photo shoot for the May edition of Model Life Magazine.  I am so proud of her!!  She was such a little lady today. Abigail was a good listener and so well behaved.  Her day started at 9:30 when she sat in the chair to have her hair done and the day ended at 3:00. She enjoyed herself and was thrilled when she was told she could keep her dress. Well done, my little princess. Did I mention I am proud of her?

Open House

Donny, Abigail and I attended the Open House at Donny's school tonight. He had his outfit planned and ready to go, he even had a travel hairbrush in his pocket in case his hair needed to be fixed. As we were walking to the building, Abigail picked a dandelion and gave it to Donny for his lapel.  He couldn't fit it in the button hole, so he tossed it aside and said to Abigail, "I don't need a flower, I have you."  I almost cried.  Donny went through his check list and showed us all the different areas of his classroom and school.  He was so proud and his mama and sister were very proud of him.

I'm back

I spent last week with Mom in Charlotte working on a project. We were very busy and the project started shortly after we arrived at the airport. I'm very proud of Mom, she worked very hard and didn't complain at all. Everything went very well until I got to the airport and flipped my mental switch to off.  Mom and I were sitting at her gate when I realized that I returned my personal keys with the rental car.  It all worked out in the end, but DAMN, we almost pulled off the perfect trip.  Good job Mom~!!!!

More Cousins

Cousins

The cousins are here for a few days and the kids couldn't be happier. I broke all Donny's bedtime rules last night because he and his cousin Elaini were playing so well in his room. They were drawing up plans for today's playtime. I honestly have never seen four children who get along so well.  The four adults couldn't believe we were able to finish not just one sentence but several conversations.  We will see what today brings.

Abigail's Surprise

I left Abigail in the tub for about thirty seconds to help Donny.  "Mommmmy, come here. I have a surprise for you."  I returned to the bathroom to find Abigail holding her hands behind her back smiling a big toothy grin.  "Mommy, watch I have a surprise for you."  She brought her hands forward and told me to watch. I wasn't quite sure what I was waiting for and then they started to flow around her tummy...little, round, brown turdlettes.  "I POOPED!  And they float, watch."  Thank you Abigail for surprising me with an added chore of disinfecting the bathroom at 7:30 in the evening.

Old Man

Donny was watching television when Abigail entered the room and began talking loudly.  "Abigail! Please be quite, I can't hear my program."  Sometimes I think there is a little old man trapped in Donny's body.
