New Love

Donny found his misplaced library card last week and couldn't wait to get to the library. I took the kids on Saturday and Donny ran into the building.  He asked one of the librarians if there were any books on Elvis that he hasn't already read.  This particular woman had not had the pleasure of meeting Donny yet.  She was shocked to find out he loved Elvis and almost squealed with delight. She slowly transformed into a teenager as she told the story of seeing Elvis in concert as a young woman.  As she was telling Donny the story of her youth, she remember a box filled with Elvis memorabilia and that's when we lost her.  She walked off in deep thought trying to remember where she put the box.  I am pretty sure she spent the rest of the weekend looking for that box.

Donny went off alone to search for a book.  He returned with Rock & Roll Generation:  Teen Life in the 50s.  Now all he wanted to do was get home and read his book.
He sat in a chair for two hours reading. At one point he ran into the kitchen to show me a picture of some really hot girls.   Below is the page of the really hot girls.

"Really hot girls"
Donny came to me later and asked if I knew of Gidget.  Do I?  I love Gidget and was so happy Donny wanted to know more, but didn't have time at the moment to discuss Gidget.  Imagine my surprise when Donny came to me tonight and asked if he could watch Gidget Goes to Rome.  Somebody has been doing research. He was very disappointed to learn Sandra Dee wasn't playing the part of Gidget but he did like the old cars.  I think Sandra Dee is his new love.

Box

The kids made a Jeep out of my new office chair box.

Office

Long ago I had an entire room to call my office. Donny moved into that room when I was about six months pregnant with Abigail and I have been working out of a backpack since. Well that has all changed. I now have a new office and I am so happy. Big Daddy spent his vacation converting his closet into my new office. Aren't I the luckiest girl?

Punishment

Donny returned from school full of energy and ready to rumble.  Big Daddy and I were having quite a time trying to keep Donny in line.  We were discussing how we should handle our crazy son when Abigail walked in and offered her words of wisdom. "I think you should hang him upside down." With that she turned on her heel and left the room.

Girl Power

Donny and I were watching the beginning of the Daytona 500.  The camera went to a shot of Danica Patrick and the anchor made a comment that she was made for racing.  Donny replied, "I don't know if she's made for racing, but she is made for dating."

Karate

Donny was on the fence about going to a karate birthday party.  I reminded him that Elvis was an expert at karate earning an 8th degree black belt.  Once he Googled images of Elvis doing karate he was ready to go. Unfortunately, the party wasn't for another three hours.  Here he his showing off some of his moves. You will have to tilt your head to watch, sorry.

Oops

I was getting Abigail ready for bed when she tripped and fell into her toys causing a racket.  "Really Abigail?"  "I'm sorry Mommy.  I'm having a malfunction."

Bow

Abigail really enjoyed participating in archery while she was attending camp last summer.  Her cousin Molly is an expert with her bow and was kind enough to give the kids her old bow.  Big Daddy took this photo today while Abigail was practicing.

Road Trip

Donny requested a trip to the classic car museum rather than a birthday party when he turned seven.  We finally had a free weekend to take him.  We drove to Norwich, New York to visit the Northeast Classic Car Museum and then headed up to Saratoga Springs to visit the Saratoga Automobile Museum.  After looking at so many beautiful cars I can understand why people have such a passion for classic cars.

We spent the night in a hotel with a pool so the kids could swim. Abigail was very concerned, "Did anyone forget to bring the sunscreen?" Although she didn't phrase the question correctly we still found her need to protect her skin hysterical. Donny kindly explained to her that why we wouldn't need sunscreen.

I have added a lot of photos, most of which are for Grandpa because we all knew he would love these cars.

Norwich, NY

The museum is raffling this car and yes we did by tickets.

This motorcycle was gorgeous. The photo doesn't do it justice.

Abigail wanted to know why there were scary women standing around the cars.

One of the two cars we could sit in and take pictures.

Donny walking ahead of us to find the "really good stuff."

Hey Grandpa, what do you think?

Just for you Grandpa.

My favorite car. I just wish the photos would pick up the paint color better.

Chocolate

I allowed Abigail to have one chocolate for dessert from the Valentine chocolate box.  She opened the box and was looking at all the different chocolates.  Unable to decide which chocolate to choose she asked me which was my favorite.  I thought she was trying to be kind and not choose the one I loved.  I pointed to my number one and she reached in and picked it up, "Then that is the one I will choose because I know it will be really good."

Science

Abigail attends the greatest preschool. I will be so sad to see her leave next year. The school has added a few classes since Donny attended and I have Abigail enrolled in two of them, cooking and science.  The body was the theme this week and she learned about the heart, lungs and esophagus.  Abigail explained how our blood was pumped through our bodies and showed us how  the size of our hearts and continued to rattle of facts for the next two days.

What?

Abigail and I were sitting in the chair when Donny came in to ask Abigail a question. He was wearing a Krispy Kreme hat and trying to hold a serious conversation. He looked so darn cute that I couldn't stop giggling.

Valentine

Abigail was so excited for Valentine's Day. I asked her if she wanted to buy Valentine's or make them. Without missing a beat she gave me a list of items she was going to need to make her Valentine's. Abigail spent many hours over three days perfecting her Valentine's and was so proud to take them to school.

Storm 2013

Last night I crawled into bed and could hear the wind blow. I love stormy nights I seem to sleep very well. I was thinking about the next morning and having a nice cup of coffee while looking out at the snow. Well, that didn't happen.  Donny woke up, saw the snow and that was the end of my quite morning.  He was dressed and outside at 7:30.  I think he lasted about 15 minutes.  Long enough for Abigail to get dressed and meet him at the door.  Big Daddy went out with Abigail for about 10 minutes and then she was done.  They went back out after lunch and had a great time.
