Clueless and Delirious

When both children have high fevers, you know it is going to be a crazy night. Abigail woke first around 11:30 screaming for her Daddy. I was in the living room waiting to give Donny his next Albuterol treatment at 12:30. Abigail insisted we go to the living room to see her Daddy, I tried to explain he was sleeping, but she is only 18 months. About twenty minutes later, Donny came running into the living room and declared he needed a shower. Before I could figure out what was happening, Donny was in the bathroom naked trying to get in the shower. I went to get Big Daddy, told him what was happening and he said he would get up, he rolled over and started to snore. I was a bit louder the next time and he told me I had an attitude. He does this all the time, totally clueless!

Big Daddy put Abigail to bed, Donny had his shower (he was so delirious there was no stopping him) and breathing treatment and we were all asleep by 1:00. Around 1:30, I was told to scoot over by a little boy who climbed into bed next to me. I tried to pick him up and return him to his room, but he pushed my hand away and told me not to touch him. FINE! The alarm went off at 4:30 for the next treatment and I thought I hit snooze, but apparently I turned it off. Not to worry because an hour later Ashley started to pace the room and pant. I jumped out of bed to let her out before she rammed the nursery door to get my attention. (She can get me to the back door from a dead sleep in less than three seconds when she head to the nursery. Smart dog.)

I let the dog in, prepared the next treatment and put Donny back in his bed. I woke up to the sound of the nebulizer and my poor son still wearing his mask. Two hours later Abigail's screaming woke me. As I went passed our room to get Abigail, I caught a glimpse of Big Daddy curled up happy as could be sleeping soundly. When Bid Daddy finally joined Abigail and I, he was shocked to hear the events of the evening. REALLY! He told me he needed his own room, "Why do you need your own room? According to you, nothing happens at night."

  2. Trust me, you will make it thru all this. Then it's just the dogs that wake you up all hours of the nite.

  3. YIKES, next time ask big daddy what kid he's gonna take care of, and kick his butt out of bed..sorry Donn
Does a "Bit of Wheezing" need such aggressive treatment??..I'm not questioning you Tracy, but these doctors today are overkill when treating kids..

  4. Lisa...Donny has issues with his lungs when he gets colds. The wheezing was from his airway being restricted, this has happened before but much worse. I wish we didn't have to treat him with the Albuterol because it really alters his behavior, but it is better than pneumonia. He seems to turn for the worse quickly when he has an issue, so they are always aggresive with his treatment.
