Give A Penny, Take A Penny

I stopped at a Connecticut Dunkin Donuts this morning. I ordered a small cup of coffee and two Munchkins®, the total came to $2.02. I only had a five dollar bill. I looked down and saw the Give a Penny, Take a Penny cup. "I'm totally going to take two pennies." Yes, I said totally. I handed the man behind the counter my five and two pennies. When I looked up, the mood of the employees had drastically changed. I realized that it wasn't a Give a Penny, Take a Penny cup all, it was their tip cup. Sensing the tension in the room, the man behind me reached into his pocket, pulled out a handful of change and asked in a panic voice how many pennies. He threw them into the cup as I was apologizing for my mistake. Nothing helped, these people were pissed. I received my change, threw a dollar in the tip cup, thanked the man behind me and Abigail and I were out of there.

  1. Well it was pretty darn cheap for people to put pennies in the tip cup in the first place. When you put your collar in there you should have taken 75 cents out as change geeezzzzzzz.

  2. I did recall moving a few bills to get to the pennies as I was replaying the scene in my head. OOPS!
