Photos Of The Day

We are still waiting for Abigail's other top tooth.
Donny and his buddy going for a ride.
Abigail's first attempt to feed herself.
I am trying to get as many photos of Abigails curls just in case they go away.

Isn't She Sweet?

This is what I have to listen to every time I put Abigail in the highchair. She stops as soon as the food hits the tray. She is such a diva.

Written By Big Daddy

I know, I know, I know, but I had to do it. Have you ever done a project, got it to just where you wanted it, finished it, than always knew in the back of your mind, if you could have only done a little, itty bit more, it would be perfect. Well, for me that meant digging a 100 foot trench at night (no little helper) than having a laborer and ( little helper) help finish it the next day before the monsoon.

When little man woke up this morning, he thought there was a giant mole at work during the night. He only saw the dirt berm, he didn't know it was a trench. When he figured out it was a trench, he couldn't eat breakfast or get himself dressed fast enough to get out to help us. That's Mario in the background. Donny made sure he kept working and had snacks to stay strong for all the hard work he was doing. Mario was good about it. I'd like to have him back to do more stuff so I don't have to be such a slave to the property, but we'll see what the Chief Financial Officer says.

As I connected the lengths of pipe together, Donny helped by disconnecting the pipes, and filling them with dirt. This isn't a good thing. Mario got a kick out of it

The finished project!! Just before the rain!! By the way, the reason for this was because the new grade of the yard didn't allow the water to run off fast enough. I knew this could possibly happen, but didn't know how irritated and obsessed I'd be by seeing the water sit there for a day or two before it dried up. Hence tearing up the yard, doing the work and re-seeding once again.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

The thermometer read 58 degrees when I woke this rainy morning. I feel like making soup again, I made matzo ball yesterday, and watching football. However, since it is still August college ball hasn't started yet. Maybe there will be a good game on ESPN classics's today and I can pretend.

BTY-When Donny is cold he says, "Grrrrrrrrrrrr" instead of Brrrrrrrrrrr.

A Day At The Fair

We had so much fun, I was just too tired to write anything last night. The best part of my day was watching Donny watch the dog agility. He was so into the show. He would clap for the dogs when they did something well and cringe when they hit a bar or missed an obstacle. Donn and I could have walked away and he wouldn't have known. Abigail was so happy just looking at everything around her and holding hands with Donny when the strollers were side by side.
When I was a child, my Grandmother would drag me into the craft barn and I hated every minute of being there. Who wants to look at flower arrangements and baked goods that have been sitting there for a week. Well, I guess I do, because I couldn't wait. I took Donny with me and we came upon a display of quick breads. Donny said, "Yum mama! Give me a little taste!" I tried to explain that he really didn't want to taste these particular fair treats. Maybe next year I will enter a loaf of my bread for fun. To be honest, by the end of the day I wanted to buy a cow and sign Donny up for 4-H. I just love the fair!

Vanity Fair

Time to cancel my Vanity Fair magazine. One of my favorite writers, Dominick Dunne, has passed away. His monthly diary was the reason I subscribed to Vanity Fair. I have read all of his books, some of them several times. Here is a link to a wonderful tribute article:

Mega Millions Update

***Spoiler Alert***
If you are like me and do not want to know any Mega information before you check your numbers, stop reading now.

The good news, there were 24 second-prize winners in the amount of $250,000. New York and Ohio were included in the winning states. Now the big prize, how long can this go on? The largest Mega Million prize of $390 million was split between two winners in 2007. Friday's jackpot is now $325 million, so run don't walk to your nearest ticket counter, the lines are going to be very long.

BTW-Thanks to the help of a certain three year old, writing this small entry took me over two hours.

Fashion Show

I would like to thank my niece for teaching my son how to perform a fashion show. He just announced that I was to stay seated, the fashion show was about to start. He returned in the pants of the month without a shirt and asked, "How do I look? Do I look beautiful?" I said, "Well, yes, you do." He replied, "No I don't, I look COOL!" (I just noticed he added Ashley's collar for a splash of color.)

Weekend In Larchmont

We had a very busy and fun filled weekend in Larchmont:

Jack gave Donny a MUCH needed haircut.
Donny played at the park down the street from Grandma's house.
Abigail waiting for Donny and Big Daddy to return from the grocery store.
They're back. Yes, they drove the fire engine to the grocery.
Donny trying to tell me about his trip.
Not much Hurricane Bill action in the sound.
Easter egg found hidden on the mantel at Grandma's. I think a Hazmat team should be called in for removal. 7:00 p.m. the night we returned from Larchmont. One very tired boy.

Do I Need To Say More?

No Swimming

All beaches are closed for the weekend due to Hurricane Bill. Let's start the countdown, how long will it take before someone goes into the water and is caught into the riptide. There is a reason the beach is closed people, stay out!!!

I Want To Hold Her

Donny was feeling very loving this morning. He asked to hold Abigail on the couch. His affection lasted long enough for me to take this photo and then it was over.

Where Are The Flowers?

We have banned Donny from the yard until we have a lawn. I thought the days of dirt we over until this morning when he dumped the flower pot and paved a road on the front porch. So much for work clothes, pj's and flip flops work just as well.

Mega Millions

***I misspoke, Mega Millions is still up for grabs. Don't forget to buy your ticket for Saturdays drawing.

I'm pretty certain someone hit the Mega jackpot last night. Make sure to check your tickets. Unfortunately I am not the lucky winner, but there's still hope for all of you. Good luck everyone.

Buckeye News - I Love It!

Pump Him With Sugar

As wonderful as it was to have a very quite evening last night, it came back to haunt me. Donny woke up this morning at 4:30 and was ready to start his day. The next time I see him start to doze so early, I'm bringing out the big guns...chocolate milk, lollipop anything with sugar to keep him awake a bit longer. It is going to be a very long day.

I'm Not Going Swimming

We had a play date today with Donny's best friend. I told him we were going swimming and he informed me that he didn't want to swim. He refused to wear a bathing suit and dressed himself in an outfit entirely to warm for the 90 degree weather. He insisted on wearing the outfit to the play date, so I let him. I figured he would get hot enough that he would finally want to swim. He held out all of 10 minutes and then decided to change into his swimsuit and have some fun. Overheard: "Zoe, you look very pretty in that dress, I tell ya."
Abigail had a great time in the pool as well. Everyone was tuckered out when we returned. Donny was in bed at 5:30 and Abigail went down less than an hour later. Ahhhh, the sound of silence.

My Dad

Donny was looking at a photo of Big Daddy in his turnout gear and said, "Look at this fireman." I said, "Donny, that's your daddy. Doesn't he look handsome?" He said, "No, he looks cool."

(Donny was looking at a different photo than the one posted. Just in case you thought Donny didn't know what Big Daddy looks like.)

Now It Can Rain

After an entire day in the sun, Big Daddy and Uncle Jim finished the lawn phase of the yard project. I was even able to help out a bit by holding a hose for about 45 minutes. I will try to take a photo of the yard every few days. I'm sure all of you find this so thrilling, but Big Daddy and I can't wait for grass.

Peter Pan

Donny's new favorite movie is Peter Pan. I was washing dishes this morning when Donny entered the kitchen and said, "Mama, I'm Peter Pan. Look at my sword." I turned around to see my son wielding a tampon as if he were fighting Captain Hook. Needless to say, I confiscated said sword.

***Apparently, I need to clarify that the "sword" had just been removed from the package and was new.

Swim

We were leaving Donny's swim lesson today and the lady at the counter said, "Goodbye sweetheart." Donny turned to her and replied, "My mom's sweetheart, I'm Donny." He acquired ten brownie points for the day.

CAKE!

Donny was quietly playing with his Play-Doh at the kitchen table this morning. I left the room for a minute and when I returned I found him standing on his chair with fork in hand and covered in chocolate.....
I was saving the last piece of cake for him to have after dinner, as you can see, he ate it at 9:27 in the morning. I guess I need to find a new hiding spot.

It's Just About That Time Again

Can you feel it? September 05 is quickly approaching, time to put the flag on the porch. I am so ready for football season, maybe this year we will actually will the national title. Anyway, I often play my favorite You Tube video when the season is approaching, so here it is for all of you...

No Sleep For Mama

WOW! Last night sucked! I don't remember teething being this bad with Donny. I think Abigail and I slept for a total of two and a half hours. Luckily, Big Daddy is home, so I was able to get a few hours in this morning when he took over. Abigail and I were able to catch the 4 A.M. addition of the news, so at least I am up to date and informed.

The End Is Near...Really!

Big Daddy brought in the big guns yesterday and oh what a day it was! A professional was brought in to grade the property and it looks fabulous. We are so close to grass, I can smell it. I actually can't wait to mow! I'm sure if you ask me about mowing in a month, I won't feel the same. Donny waited all day, then around 4:00 it was time for a ride, he was even allowed to drive. I awoke this morning at 6:30 to the sound of the tractor, I have no idea how long Big Daddy has been raking the yard, but someone is itching to put grass seed down.

I asked Donny, "We are going to have grass very soon. Do you know what that means?" "Yes mama, BASEBALL!" Exactly what I was thinking, Big Daddy and I can't wait to play with him on the yard.

Mini-Vacation

Big Daddy and I returned from our first childless getaway yesterday. Although, it was very difficult to leave the little ones, I didn't make it to the car before I started crying, we had a very nice time. We stayed in Atlantic City, but made a nice side trip to Cape May, Wildwood and Seaside Heights. During one of the many, many phone calls to check on the kids, I asked Donny if he was being a good boy. I heard silence on the other end of the phone, so I repeated the question to which he replied, "Not really." Aunt Karen assured me Donny was being very good.
