Don't Worry

Abigail and I arrived early for her ballet class today.  There was a little girl from the previous class waiting for her mother.  She was upset because her mother was late.  Abigail walked up to her, put her hand on the girls shoulder and said, "Don't worry.  Your mommy loves you and misses you.  She will come back to get you.  My mommy always comes back."  I was so proud of her.  The little girl just looked at me.  All I could say was, "She's right.  Your mommy will be here soon."

Coup

Abigail's teacher informed me that Abigail started a coup today.  Apparently during circle time, Abigail stood up and began singing Twinkle Twinkle as loud as she could.  The teachers tried to stop her because it wasn't Twinkle time.  Before  they knew it, Abigail had gained the singing support of the entire circle and the teachers had to wait it out.  That's my girl!

Look!

Abigail was so thrilled to find chocolate in the middle of her apple yesterday.  I had to break the news to here that she had found the seeds.  A few hours later, as we were driving through the countryside, she was so excited to see giant marshmallows in the field.  Even Donny found her discovery cute.  Neither one of us had the heart to tell her she was looking at shrink-wrapped hay.

Back to the House

Although the rain stopped sometime during the night, it is still gloomy and overcast.    I started to think about last winter and the many hours we were trapped in the house and realized we needed to get outside while we could.  I told the kids to play while I did some weeding.  HOLY MALAYSIA!!!  I think we lasted about an hour.  Between the  oppressive humidity and the mosquito's, we didn't last an hour.  I threw the kids in the bath, popped some kettle corn and put on a movie.

Bank of Donny

Just before the bus arrived today, Donny dropped a little bomb.  "I made a deal on the bus.  I paid a boy to sit next to me."  I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  I tried to question him and figure out his motives.  I really wanted to know if he was paying for protection or friendship.  I tried to tell him that he shouldn't pay anyone to sit next to him or to be his friend.  He replied, "Mama, I'm like the bank. You give me money and I give it to someone else."  Stay tuned, I'm sure there will be more to the story soon.

Kiss

Apparently Abigail does not like the explanation Big Daddy and I gave her for her birthmark.  We told her  it was a kiss from an angel.  She told her teacher and classmates it was chocolate milk.

Soccer

Donny had soccer this morning and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just wasting our time.  Abigail touched a soccer ball today more than Donny.  How long do I keep this up?  I know I should make him stick it out the entire season, but do I determine whether he plays or not after only one season?  To top it all off, after the game Donny ran to me and asked for the camera because the coach was lining up all the kids for a picture.  I tried to tell him they were lining up to shake hands, but he wouldn't listen so we now have a nice team photo.

Favor

Donny and I were in the car when he asked for a small favor.   "Mama?  When I am sixteen, can we move to Chicago?  I want to be a dancer on Shake It Up.  Will you ask dad? I bet he says yes!"   I haven't asked Big Daddy yet, I wonder what he'll say.

Tiny Dancer

Abigail started dance class today. She has been watching Angelina Ballerina in preparation for her big day.   We soon realized she was one of the two students in the class.  However, today she was the only student.  The other little girl was unable to attend because she hid her mother's car keys and the poor woman couldn't find them.  I can't wait for next week to meet this lady, I think we have something in common.  Abigail loved her class so much I swear I saw sunshine beaming off her face.  She was so happy and there is nothing better than watching your child in pure bliss.

Pre-K

Abigail started school this morning. She was so excited that she woke me at 2:30 in the morning and asked me to drive her to school. Last night she made me go to her room to help her with her clothes. I'm not sure why I was there, I wasn't allowed to have an opinion. She hung her outfit on the knob of her dresser. She insisted on wearing the necklace Donny made for her at camp. When we got to school I asked if I could take her picture and being the diva that she is posed immediately. I walked her into the room and was told I could go. Her teachers were so excited to see her, she had them for camp. One of the teachers ran to the closet and pulled out the big mirror, "Abigail loves to look at herself." I really don't want to encourage that behavior. All in all, she had a great first day and can't wait to go back.

Sailor Boy

The day after we returned from Virginia Donny was on a mission. He ran into his room and I could hear drawers opening and closing. He finally returned wearing all white with an army bandage around his neck. I'm not sure how long the sailor phase will last, but he sure looks cute. I guess the trip to the USS Wisconsin left an impression.

Kindergarten

Donny started school yesterday, his first day of kindergarten. We all walked down the lane together. When we saw the bus coming, Big Daddy whipped out a roll of Lifesavers. Really Big Daddy? Are you trying to make me cry? Donny didn't hesitate, he walked on the bus and found a seat. Mommy and Daddy didn't do so well. Abigail told me not to cry and everything was going to be okay. Donny had a great day at school and couldn't wait to go back.

Vacation cont....

I Got the Boogie

I left Abigail with her Nanny and Uncle Jim.  She was eating her breakfast in the highchair.  I was called into the house by two panicked people.  "We were talking and I heard her saying mommy, mommy in a very quite voice.  We looked over and saw she was covered with blood.  I was looking for raspberries."  I walked around the chair, took one look at her and said, "Hi Carrie!"  Then ever so sweetly she said, "I got the boogie."  Yes you did sweetheart.

Vacation!

We were very lucky and did not have to cancel our vacation. We returned yesterday and everyone had a wonderful time. Sorry for the large gap between blogs, I will return to blogging more often once life returns to normal.
