Really Donny?

Nanny has arrived!  Thanks to Irene we have pretty much cancelled our vacation to Virginia Beach. We are still having a good time and waiting to see what is going to happen.  Donny is having the best time playing with Nanny.  The two of them were sitting on the floor today playing Legos when Abigail walked in wearing her sparkly bracelets I bought her at the Renaissance Faire.  Nanny said, "Oh you look so pretty." To which Donny replied, "Don't tell her that, she looks ridiculous."

Frazzled

It's been awhile since I've had something funny to blog about, but I think this might be blog worthy.  I needed to overnight a letter today was trying my best to get to the post office before noon.  The kids were in their own world and making me crazy.  I finally got the kids in the car and they giggled the entire way, I just wanted to mail my letter.  When we walked up to the post office, I saw a biker looking man holding the door open.  He told the kids they had to give him a high five before they could enter.   Abigail walked up, slapped a high five and walked by.  Donny did the same.  When I got to the man, he said he would need a hug from me.  For some insane reason (my kids make me crazy) I leaned in and hugged the man and before I could let go of him, he said, "I was just kidding."  I nodded and said, "I know." I hung my head and walked away with a beet red face.

Scratch

Donny spent the morning sitting on my lap waiting for his scratch test to cook. He was tested for thirty different allergens which meant thirty pin pricks in his arms. As soon as he figured out what was going on he jumped out of the chair and tried to leave. Once all the allergens were on and he realized the worst was over he calmed down.    I tried to take a photo of his milk prick and this was the best I could get:

The good news is that he will stop his daily breathing treatment for awhile.  We have a follow up appointment in a month and fingers crossed the treatments will be a thing of the past.

Renaissance Faire

I took the kids to the Renaissance Faire today and they had a great time. I was surprised when they were so shy when those in costume would speak to the kids. It didn't take long for the them to warm up though. Donny wanted a sword but it took most of the day to find the proper one. I had a very hard time getting him out of the costume and hat shops. He look so cute in many of the hats, so I see a project in my future. Abigail was very picky about what she wanted to bring home. I think she tried on seven hats and didn't care for any of them. On the way to the car, she spotted sparkly bracelets. Everyone had a nice day and I'm really glad I didn't talk myself out of going.
Waiting for the shuttle bus to pick us up.
Abigail took a break while Donny tried the bow and arrows.

Waiting for their prize.

Donny was so excited when this little boy challenged Donny to a duel.
Donny was very funny because anytime a person in costume walked past us, he would tip his hat.  I took this photo when the "queen" walked out.  He was very serious.

Listening to the "queen" speak.
Abigail was so overcome with happiness, that she would hug us.

Award Day

Awards were handed out today at camp.  I was not surprised at all when Donny showed me his award.

It's All in the Name

Big Daddy and I ran across this fine establishment while on our road trip today. We can't seem to figure out why it has gone out of business. Any thoughts?

Tooth Fairy

Donny's tooth has been loose for about two weeks.  He played with it all day today and when I looked at it before bed I knew it had to come out.  He wanted to use the string and door trick so I jumped at the chance before he changed his mind.  The first time didn't go so well. We set up again, I turned to get the camera, he moved his arm, hit the string and the tooth came out.  We both just looked at the tooth on the floor.

He Said...

While we were in Maryland, Uncle Bruce took Donny to the basement to check things out.  Donny was so excited because he found many of the cousins' old toys.  He even came home with a nice helicopter.  Out of the blue this morning, Donny said, "Uncle Bruce sells toys out of his house."  I asked where he received his information and he said, "Because when we were in the basement, Uncle Bruce called it the cellar."

Surprise!

On Friday we drove to Maryland to attend the surprise party for Big Daddy's Uncle Bruce.   The kids were so excited to see Uncle Bruce and the rest of the family.   Friday night was a bit rough with the kids.  Dinner was a nightmare and getting them to bed was worse.   However, every bit of agony Big Daddy and I went through Friday night was SO worth it on Saturday.  We had a wonderful day with the family and the kids and so much fun.  Donny played so hard that we had to wake him at 9:00 the next morning.  He has never slept that late.

I tried to get a shot of the two of them before we left for the party, this is as good as it gets.
Abigail couldn't wait to swim.
Donny spent the entire day in and around the pool.
Donny asked my to put his towel next to the girl in the pool.  They spent about an hour talking.  She was kind of to tell Donny she thought it was cool to wear shorts in the summer.  I have my fingers crossed for camp on Tuesday.
Uncle Bruce and Molly.

Two beauties!  Abigail sat on Jennifer's lap for about an hour until she fell asleep.

Donny wants to swim so badly, but his fear keeps him on the side or steps of the pool.  He was really starting to relax and enjoy himself when he slipped off the wall and went under.  I was sitting on the side of the pool and was able to reach over and grad him.   He was so frightened that I thought he would never get back in the pool, but he did and I am so proud of him.  Uncle Bruce wanted to bring Donny in the water with him so he had to gain his trust first.  Donny went with him and they had a great time.
Donny had so much fun making water balloons.

These two spent quite awhile chatting in the pool.
Before we left on Sunday, Big Daddy helped with a small construction project at the house.  All in all, a wonderful weekend spent with wonderful family.
