Power Up

I took these photos as the sun was coming up on Sunday morning. We finally have power again. While it was fun to play with the kids, I'm glad it is over. I just hope we don't do this again this winter.

Picture Day

Today was picture day at school for Donny.  I decided to prepay for the photos online a few days ago.    I was looking at different backgrounds when Donny saw the computer, that was the moment I lost all control.  He saw a background that looked like the "olden days" and the wheels started to turn.  Did he pick the head shot?  Nope, he went with the head to knee shot.  After he made his decision, he ran to his room and things started flying.  He had an outfit in his head and I was worried.  He decided a hat was nessasary which created a small problem.  The school has a no hat policy so I had to email his teacher for permission to wear the hat for the photo.  I made him put the hat in his backpack until it was time for the photo. This is the way he looked before before school:
I cannot wait to see his final school picture!

Bath Soap

I found this recipe for foam bath soap and thought it would be fun to try with the kids. The process turned out to be more fun than playing with the soap during bath time. We put a bar of Ivory soap in the microwave for two minutes.  The soap expanded and became very flaky and light.  We made it creamy by putting it in the Cuisinart and adding boiling water.  When the soap cooled we added food coloring.

Ragamuffin Parade

Another year, another parade. The day has been very busy.  We went to Donny's soccer game and then jumped in the car and drove to Larcmont for the annual Ragamuffin Parade.  Big Daddy drove the lead fire truck this year and everyone followed him to the fire house.  General George Washington, Super Sparkle and Vampire Girl had a very nice time.  A special thanks to Nanny for the well crafted Epaulettes and to Vampire Girl for chasing the General for me.

Great Day

I spent yesterday Christmas shopping.  I was having lunch, thinking how nice it was to have some time alone, I NEVER have alone time, when my phone beeped.  Big Daddy sent me a picture of Abigail.
Best dad ever!  He took her to get a manicure!

Daddy's Purse

Abigail and I were shopping for her yesterday.  I forgot to bring the stroller so she was able to roam free while we shopped.  She spotted a sequined purse that contained two containers of nail polish.  Abigail took it from the hook handed it to me and said, "Daddy said I needed to get this."  Then she grabbed another one, "This one is for Daddy."  The employee who was stocking a shelf very close to us laughed out loud and took Abigail behind the counter and gave her some tattoos.  I was the villain of course because the sequined bag did not come home with us, sorry Big Daddy.

**Mistake has been corrected**

Hello

Abigail and I arrived at school a bit early today, so we had to wait for the teacher to open the door.  When the door opened, the teacher walked out and said to Abigail, "Hello beautiful."  Abigail put her hand on her hip, popped her knee and  replied, "That's me!"  I really need to work on her self confidence.

Pretty

As Abigail walked out of ballet class yesterday, a woman told Abigail she looked pretty.  Abigail replied, "Thank you.  I always look pretty."    She certainly doesn't have a confidence problem.

Ice Cream Money

The other day, Donny walked off the bus very upset.  "Mama, there is a man who works in the lunchroom at school and he gives my friend money for ice cream.  It's inappropriate and he's an adult so he should know better.  I told my teacher what he did and that it was against the law."   Great!  So now I have to call the school and find out what's going on so I know how to handle Mr. Safety Patrol.  I found out the man is a family friend so Donny feels much better about the situation. I however, feel like a pain in the school's ass.

Sunset

The kids and I were playing in the yard last night as the sun was setting.  The sky was a beautiful shade of purple with some pink and blue.  It had to be one of the prettiest sunsets I have seen since we moved here in 2004.  Abigail looked at the sky and said, "Oh how pretty!  Look what Grandpa made for me.  He is so nice.  Take me to the fence, I want to stand on it so I can see the sky."  Then Donny ran by and hit us with a stick.

Grandpa

Grandpa arrived Saturday night after the kids were in bed. They were so happy in the morning when they realized Grandpa was in the living room.   One of Grandpa's favorite things to do is take a train ride.  The weather was perfect and the trees are beginning to turn, so Monday was a great day for a ride.  Grandpa decided his travel companions would join us on the train.  That decision sent two little ones running to their rooms for their companions.  Then Donny decided he needed to wear his "handsome" shirt and his cowboy hat.  The outfit was not complete without his trusty sword.   Abigail needed to bring her purse which contained one baseball and Kai-Lan.  When everyone finally had all their things together, we rode the train three stops away, got back on and came home.

Abigail sat next to Grandpa and talked his ear off for about fifteen minutes.  I am pretty such Grandpa is driving back to Ohio in complete silence.

Pumpkin Picking

Abigail's class took a trip to the pumpkin patch today. Donny had the day off, so he was able to join us for the fun.  He wasn't that thrilled because his class was there the day before.  In fact, when the farmer spoke to the children about  the farm Donny let everyone know that he had already heard the story.   If it looks as if we were the only family there, it is because the entire group got off the tractor and made a left.  Donny hopped off and went right.

0400

The past to mornings, I have shot out of bed to the screams of Abigail.  Yesterday, I found her sitting up sobbing.  I asked her why she was so upset and she replied, "I don't have a seat at Donny's soccer game.  If you take my pink chair with the flowers on it I can sit down."  I assured her I was heading straight to the car to put her chair in the back.  She said okay and put her head on the pillow and was out.

Today she woke me at the same time.  She was screaming and I thought it must be something really bad.  "Mommy I don't want to go into the basement in Larchmont.  It's too scary."  I forbid her to go into the basement and off to sleep she went.  What will tomorrow bring?  I'll have to ask Big Daddy because I think it's his turn to get up at 0400.

Good Run

Well, we had a good run going.  The cough started last evening and continued through the night.  I tried to sleep in his race car bed with him and let me tell you, that was awful.  He coughed all night which wouldn't let him sleep, so to pass the time he wanted to play the word game.  His teacher will be so proud.   I should have just taken him to the living room to watch television.  I did bring Big Daddy in around 2:30 to watch Donny's breathing, but it wasn't until this morning that he need the Albuterol.   I am sure this is from all the rain we have had over the past two weeks.  We have mushrooms growing all over the yard.  I am hoping we can nip this in the bud and return the nebulizer to the closet very soon.
