Car Show

I took the kids to a car show on Sunday and was very disappointed when they were ready to leave after only 20 minutes. I had planned to spend much more time at the car show to keep them out of the house. I was blessed when I made a desperate phone call to our good friend and she agreed to meet us at the park with her little one. The kids played for almost three hours and the mama's had a wonderful visit.

Look!

Abigail pulled Big Daddy and I into her room to show us her latest creation.  She made an outhouse for her Little People.  I guess she did learn something on our camping trip.

Back to School Night

Last night during Back to School night, Donny's teacher explained that she was often still at school working into the evening.  I told Donny that his teacher works very hard and is sometimes still at school when he is getting ready for bed.  "That explains why she is so cranky sometimes."  I told him I think it had more to do with the chitty-chatting between he and his friends and the smile on his face told me he agreed.

Favorite

I asked Abigail to name her favorite part of the school day.  "That's complicated mommy.  I like lots of different parts."

Muffin

I didn't accomplish much today because I had a headache that I couldn't shake.  Abigail was standing next to me when I said, "I was good for nothing today."  Abigail replied, "Mommy you are a very good muffin maker."

Broken Heart

I have had a heavy heart since Donny came home from school on Friday.  I knew something was wrong as soon as I saw his face.  Friday was hat day and Donny wore his new plaid hat which for him is conservative.  A group of girls made fun of him and it really hurt his feelings.  It broke my heart.  He has always been a free spirit who marches to the beat of his own drum.  I pray these girls will not take the sparkle out of his eyes.  I realize he is a unique child but I think that is what makes him so special.

Faire

Donny went to bed very late last night so when I told him we were going to the Renaissance Faire he was not very happy.  I informed him that he could wear a costume and every thing changed.  He was in his room going through his closet and drawers and together we put his pirate costume together in ten minutes.  I would like to point out that I laughed at him when he suggested the vest from the pirate Halloween outfit I made for him when he was 10 months old, well it still fits and he wore it today.
Abigail talked about doing this the entire ride.

Donny honestly thought we would buy him one of the swords on the wall.

Abigail learned how to shoot a bow and arrow at camp.

She was so proud when she hit the target.

Absolute joy for all of us.  Look at that smile.

MJ

Donny has added Michael Jackson to his list of favorite singers.  He has watched many videos from the Thriller album. Today he and Abigail were sitting on the ottoman when he put Michael's video Remember The Time which was released in 1992.  The kids had a debate on whether the man in the video was Michael Jackson or not because that man really looked like a woman but it did  sound like Michael Jackson.  When I confirmed that it was indeed Michael Jackson, Donny looked at me very puzzled and asked how he changed his face.  I wasn't quite sure how to respond when he asked how he changed the color of his skin.  Luckily for me Big Daddy announced that it was time to leave.  I am sure I haven't heard the end of this subject.

Random Thoughts

We have a saying in our house:  Random Thoughts by Abigail.  I have decided to start sharing these thoughts.  Abigail's thoughts are usually out of the blue.  They are random questions or statements that she blurts out at any given time.  This is what she asked today.

Socks

Abigail loved the out fit she wore on the second day of school. It took us five minutes to walk down the hall to her class because she had to stop and show every teacher her socks.

UGH

Abigail started school yesterday and I wanted to post a photo from her first day.  I received a pop-up when I tried to upload her photos.  Apparently I have exceeded my photo amount and need to upgrade. As soon as I clear up the mess, I will post a photo of my little lady.

Ummm

I think this photo speaks for its self...Daddy time.

Hat

We saw this "old time car" during our outing today and Donny had to take a closer look.  His love everything old  grows stronger every time he watches American Pickers.  This post is actually about the hat he is wearing.  He picked it out and it is his new favorite hat.  I would to thank the lovely Walmart cashier for telling Donny to make sure and remove his hat every once in awhile so he doesn't lose his hair.  THANKS A LOT!  One more for the worry list.

Blue

I am not sure if I have posted about Donny's love of Elvis music.  Every time we are in the car he requests the Elvis station. He just discovered Elvis movies and watched Blue Hawaii Thursday evening.  I should have seen it coming but I was still surprised to learn he wanted to wear his blue Hawaiian shirt to school the next day.  He wanted to wear it with the red shorts he is wearing below but I made him change into khaki shorts. He put those red shorts back on when he returned from school.  And by the way, Abigail picked out her outfit as well.

First Day

Donny started school today and I have to admit that I was thrilled to see the bus come down the road.  I haven't been able to finish a thought or sentence in three months.  I dearly love my little man, but my brain needs a break.  I think this is going to be a great year for him.  I have Abigail with me for a few more days, she doesn't start school until Monday.

New Fear

Donny and I watched an episode of Little House on the Prairie tonight and I am afraid one of the most innocent television shows ever made has left a lasting impression.  He is now terrified of catching Small Pox.  Big Daddy and I have tried to explain to him that he will not get sick but he doesn't believe us.  Can't wait for the call from school to tell me my son thinks he's coming down with Small Pox.

New Bed

We finally found a new bed for Abigail. Our plan was to buy her a set of normal bunk beds. I'm sure you can imagine how happy she was when we brought this bed home. I think Nellie likes the new bed also.
