Camper

A few weeks ago while in the Tractor Store, Donny spotted a toy camper that he just had to have. Big Daddy and I have a reward chart for Donny to alleviate toy requests while shopping. Once he fills the chart he may pick out a toy. Last week Big Daddy took Donny to the Tractor Store only to find that some terrible little boy had stolen his camper. I told him that Nanny had a Tractor Store close to her house and we would be there soon.

Just hours after our arrival the quest began. "Nanny did you buy the camper?" "Aunt Stephanie did you get me the camper?" Poor Aunt Stephanie was not briefed on the camper story and therefore very confused. Donny and I went to church with Nanny and his cousin. After the children's sermon, the children were instructed to exit and attend Sunday School. Not getting anywhere with his family, Donny decided to take the camper request straight to the top and walked up to Pastor and told her: "Someone stole my camper." Knowing that we traveled to Piqua for a visit, the look on the her face was of great concern. I spoke to her after church to assure her that our vehicle was safe. She told me she saw a trip to the Tractor Store in our future and I agreed.

Two hours later, Nanny, Donny and I were standing in the Tractor Store looking at the toy shelf, when Donny announced: "Nanny we have a situation!" He was not happy, so we went to the next store and then another, no camper to be found. There are two more Walmart's in the area and I am hoping to find the said tractor by weeks end.

Top 10 Reasons I Like To Fly

  1. 15+ hours in the car with my children make me want a drink.
  2. Drinking in the car is illegal.
  3. Public restrooms, to be more specific...I don't have to hear my son announce that the girls team from Iona College that just walked out, made the restroom stink.
  4. Donny will wear headphones on a plane and I don't have to listen to Hard Hat Harry 300 times.
  5. Abigail is a screamer!
  6. Staying in a hotel. Once again, Abigail is a screamer and screamed for two hours before she finally fell asleep. The staff probably called to complain, but since the kids will pick up the phone and dial any number, both phones were unplugged.
  7. Airplane= one child to one parent...Car=two children to one parent.
  8. "I'm hungry." "I have to pee." "I have to go poopy." "Are we almost there." Multiply by 1500 for every 30 minutes.
  9. Having to put Abigail back in her seat knowing she will start to scream: "Out! Out! Out!"
  10. The return trip.

Sale

Most of you are aware Donny loves catalogs. He is also quite fond of the weekly sale flyer from the local grocery store. Today he was sitting on the living room floor reading this week's flyer. He ran to the kitchen and shoved the flyer under my nose: "Look Mama, poison and chemicals are on sale!" FYI- Anyone with a local Freshtown, Windex and bathroom cleaner are on sale this week.

Running Water

I left Donny for thirty seconds and when I returned I heard the sound of running water. I ran to the bathroom to find my son standing on his stool at the sink. The sink was full of toys and the water was on full blast. He was transporting cars from one side of the sink to the other with a makeshift barge, my bra.

Character Day

Today is character day at Donny's school. He wanted to go as "Super Donny" just another wonderful version of his normal play at home. He decided against wearing the socks over his pants, but insisted on wearing two pair of pants and underwear on top of his pants. He was holding his Superman doll and comparing outfits, he also added his tool belt because, "All superheros have belts." I'm sorry the photos are blurry, I couldn't get him to stand still.

Sharing

Every week Donny's class studies a new letter. T is this week's letter. On Thursdays, the children are asked to bring something to school to share that begins with the letter of that week. The item is placed in a basket when they enter the room. I was quizzing Donny, asking him which words began with the letter T. When I told him my name began with the letter T, he got so excited and then he started to ramble. "MAMA! You can be my sharing toy tomorrow! You begin with T." Poor little guy, I had to talk him down and explain that I wouldn't fit in the basket. He is over it now and has placed his tractor in his backpack.

Tomorrow is character day and the children are to dress as their favorite character. I thought this would be a huge problem because masks are not allowed, he has a thing for Batman. When I asked Donny which character he wanted to be, he said himself and came up with his own outfit. I decided to make him a T-shirt and embellish the socks he insisted on wearing. I can't wait to post photos tomorrow.

Such A Loser!

Read

Baby Lyrics

here.
I am such a loser because I am so addicted to this song. How old is this kid? I saw him a few weeks ago on Letterman and last night he performed on SNL. I think I am regressing, I am also mesmerized by High School Musical I, II and III. What the hell is wrong with me?

George

Abigail, Donny and I traveled to Larchmont yesterday to attend a birthday party for my niece. The ride down proved to be quite entertaining, Donny was a bit chatty and talked for about an hour straight. I do not have the memory or time to post his entire conversation, but I had to post this particular part.

"Mama, Abigail's hair looks like George Washington's." "Donny, what did George Washington do? "He's an angel now." "Yes, he is, but what was his job when he was still here?" "Government." "How do you even know the word government?" No reply, on to the next subject.

Close Your Eyes

I was in bed next to Donny trying to get a very over tired boy to fall asleep. I told him to close his eyes and he replied, "But Mama, I want to look at your beautiful face." He won, eyes open. What a scam artist!

I'm Stuck

Donny's friends Zoe and Tatum came over to play today. They had such a good time, but since the play date was after a full morning for everyone, there were more meltdowns then usual. By the end of the play date, everyone was covered in dirt. You would never know that March was the rainiest March on record by the amount of dust and dirt in the yard. There is one spot in the yard that is muddy. There is a hole where all of Big Daddy's drain pipes come together to drain. Donny is forbidden to go near the hole because it is so dangerous. We knew it was time to end the play date when he broke the rule and had a small problem.

Raisins

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. Our weekend was lovely, the weather was perfect and the kids were very good. We headed to Larchmont on Saturday. The kids played with their cousin while I played find your ancestors with Aunt Karen on Ancestry.com. Big Daddy joined us after work. Aunt Karen tried to prepare Donny for Easter church service by teaching him to say, He has risen. However, when Donny repeated the phrase to Aunt Karen, he said, "He has raisins."

Donny was so good in church. I was a bit worried, but he really behaved himself. He almost slipped when the offering tray was brought to our aisle. The lady handed it to me and there was a box sitting in the tray. Donny asked her what was in the box and she told him it was change. He replied, "I like change" and smiled at her. She quickly removed the box from the tray and we passed the tray down the pew. Big Daddy spent most of the service outside with Abigail. He did return for communion and was the last to receive. When the Pastor put his hand on Abigail's head to bless her she started to cry. The Pastor announced that he had that effect on women and the congregation had a good laugh. And to think I was worried Donny would be the one to disrupt the service.

Let's Go!

Donny asked me every day for an entire month if I would call his friends' mother for a play date. I finally called her last week and we planned a play date for Friday. Donny was so excited that every morning this week I awoke to a tiny face looking at me asking if it was Friday. Yesterday, when I declared that it was indeed Friday, he was so happy that he was willing to do anything I asked immediately, I usually ask several times before any results. Imagine my disappointment when the play date was over, however I thought maybe I would be able to sleep a bit later than I had for the past week. Not so my friends! Today I woke to a swoosh, swoosh sound coming down the hall. I opened my eyes and there was his little face looking at me. "Look Mama! I'm all dressed and ready to go see Aunt Keekee! Let's go!" He was indeed dressed and ready to go.
